FBI Identity History Summary

FBI Identity History Summary Checks in Santa Clarita

Intro

We offer two ways to complete an FBI Identity History Summary request: an electronic submission that typically returns results within hours, and a traditional ink fingerprint (FD-258) submission by mail. Which one applies to you depends on your citizenship or residency status.

Electronic FBI Identity History Summary — Results Typically Within Hours

As an approved FBI Channeler, we submit your fingerprints electronically to the FBI. Your results are typically made available on a secure FBI server within hours, not weeks. You retrieve your own results directly using a secure login and two-factor authentication. We do not access or receive your results at any point in this process.

This service is available only to U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents.

In some cases, a submission may be flagged for manual review by the FBI. When that happens, results take longer to become available. This is determined entirely by the FBI, and we have no involvement in the review or in the timing of your results.

Ink Fingerprint (FD-258) Submission by Mail

For applicants who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents, or in cases where electronic submission isn't available, we provide traditional ink fingerprinting on an FD-258 card. This is mailed directly to the FBI and processed on the FBI's own timeline, which runs weeks rather than hours.

Which option is right for you?

  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident, need results quickly → Electronic FBI Identity History Summary

What to bring

  • Valid government-issued photo identification

  • Any request form or instructions provided by the agency, embassy, employer, or program requiring your Identity History Summary

Frequently Asked Questions

How fast can I get my FBI Identity History Summary?

If you're a U.S. citizen or permanent resident using our electronic Channeler submission, most requests are completed within hours. If your submission is flagged for manual review by the FBI, it will take longer, and that timeline is outside our control.

Do you receive my results?

No. We submit your fingerprints electronically as an approved FBI Channeler, but we never access or receive your results. You retrieve your own Identity History Summary directly from a secure FBI server using a personal login and two-factor authentication. This is different from the process itself for a standard California DOJ Live Scan, where results go only to the requesting agency, not to you or to us.

Can anyone use the electronic, same-day option?

No. The electronic path is available only to U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents. Other applicants use the traditional ink fingerprint FD-258 process, which is mailed to the FBI and takes weeks.

Do I need an appointment?

No. Walk in Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM
